Today I bought their famous crispy pork banh mi and felt disappointed with what I got. Despite adding crispy pork for $3, I was surprised when the pork that is supposed to be crispy, was charred and hard to chew. As soon as I got home, I opened the bun and found that the most of the meat was just the charred part, not a single crispy skin was in the bun. I ended up eating only the bun & coleslaw. For banh mi lover like me, the crispy skin is the most important part. The shop was not even busy. I think, the staff just fill my banh mi with left over charred pork meat that is supposed to be thrown away.

My colleagues have been consistently returning to and recommending this place, so I finally had the chance to try it myself. The crispy pork banh mi, priced at $10.5, is quite competitive for the area. The roll is substantial and crunchy, generously loaded with crispy pork, salad, and pate. I also requested extra chili for an added kick of heat. The quality and quantity certainly match the price. Upon returning for the second time, I noticed that the meat tended to be overly oily, and the paper bag was soaked in oil. This was a bit of a disappointment compared to the first experience.

Two words.. Utterly Delicious! Seeing the long queue, I decided to give this place a try. The Banh Mi's are a delight. I tried the Trang special and Crispy Pork roll. Both were fingerlicking good! The pork meat was extremely tender and juicy. Absolute one of my top picks for Vietnamese rolls. It's likely you have to queue up for 5 10 minutes as it gets extremely busy though serving is quite quick. I would absolutely recommend crispy pork and Trang special. Will surely go back for the Trang special roll and try out the other items. Great food at a good price. Definitely worth the wait.

OMG - I have eaten there once before, but I needed a food fix before heading for city meetings. I lined up with quite a few in front of me just before 12. I won't repeat what others have written about the crispy pork Bahn Mi, because it's true! Fantastic! My contribution is about the humble bread roll itself. I got a chance just to start at the end of their roll - so, so good, so, so fresh and of course the rest is history - yum, yum and beautiful baking!!

There is always a line outside of the bakery so I went there out of curiosity. The crispy pork Banh Mi was okay, and it is the most expensive Banh Mi I have had in Melbourne. It was a bit dry because there wasn’t much dressing. The crispy pork was quite dry as well. Staff is lovely and super friendly there! It is quite a good option for lunch if you can’t go further to look for other bakery with Banh Mi. But if I am not in a rush, I would probably drive to Hawthorn or Richmond.

I don’t like to queue but the Crispy Pork Banh Mi at Trang’s is well worth the wait. Crispy fatty succulent pork in a fresh banquette topped with their special sauce, Yum.i
